Student Parent Association (SPA)

Our Lady of Peace School Ministry has a Student Parent Association which is often known by its acronym "SPA." I want to begin here in a preliminary way to define who SPA is and what SPA does.

What's in a Name?

The Student Parent Association (SPA) is meant to be very much like other parent organizations affiliated with schools like the PTA, for example. The name, SPA, is somewhat confusing in helping make this connection in that the word "teacher" is missing.

What's its Purpose?

Parents want to be involved in their child's education and find ways to build a partnership with their child's teacher. The teachers are looking to do the same. As such, SPA looks for ways to help make these connections both in and out of school.

How is it Structured?

I have attached an organizational chart to this copy of The Weekly. As you review the chart I would emphasize that the chart is arranged in this manner more for communicating the different things SPA does rather than its organizational flow. Please note the wide variety of activities for which SPA is responsible.

So Who is Doing What?

I have been in contact with the volunteers who have been actively involved with SPA during the past two years. Next week I will provide for you the names of the people who have offered to be in leadership positions or willing to oversee the areas listed on the chart. If you are interested in an area, by all means, let me know.
