This project is called a Community Project. The students study about the 3 different communities in Social Studies. They are given their 1st project to re-create a community of their choice. Urban, Rural or Suburban. The objective of the project is to use the knowledge they have learned in class to create their community. This is a family project. The parents can help their child to organize their time and thoughts in order to put this project together by the given due date. It also helps to promote creativity with the family. Guidelines for the project are to choose their community, duplicate it and make sure that their name and type of community is somewhere on the project. They are also graded on neatness. A quote from one of my students today was, “Thank you Mrs. Mueller for assigning this project!” Who ever thought I would be thanked for giving out assignments!
