Communications
Student Assignment Planners
Another tool that designed to assist in the day-to-day communication among teacher, students, and parents, is the Student Assignment Planner. The assignment planners are used by students in grade 3-8. This tool is central to effective communication.
A concerted effort is put forth in assuring that each student's planner is filled out every day. Parents are asked to check their child's assignment planner daily. The listing of short description of what is being taught in each class will help in conversations with your child about what is happening from day-to-day.
Classroll
Classroll.com is an on-line program that OLP used to give parents important information about how their child is doing in the classroom. The communication provide to parents is specific regarding their students' achievement and provides detailed information on current grade averages, assignments, homework, missing assignments, teacher comments, attendance, lesson plans, classroom activities and more.
Mid-Quarter Progress Reports
Mid-Quarter Progress Reports are sent home for all our students in grades 3-8. These reports produced by our teachers provide current information for parents and students regarding the progress of learning to date. The format of each progress report may vary from teacher to teacher, but the intent remains the same - to provide for parents and students current information regarding the progress of achievement for that individual student.
Conferences
Teacher/Parent Conferences are schedule two times during the year, one scheduled in the Fall and the other in the Spring. Conferences are individually scheduled and consist of 15 minutes with your child's teacher.
In grades K-4, parents meet with your child's teacher.
In middle school (grades 5-8) your child's advisor serves as the central communicator for the other Middle School teachers. It is strongly recommended that students accompany their parents.
