Catechesis for Families, Children and Youth

Deepening Our Faith is the parish Religious Education program at our Lady of Peace designed for families:

• whose children and young people are in schools where religious education is not a part of the curriculum.
• with children whose developmental needs can best be serviced in the public school system.
• who have chosen to primarily 'home school.' and need materials and a calendar of community and seasonal events for children and families.
• who would like a family model of Religious Education for their child(ren)

The National Director for Catechesis states that:

As the primary educators of their children, parents have the right and duty to choose the kind of educational environment that they determine best suits their children's educational needs. This is true also for the religious education and faith formation of their children.  

Our Lady of Peace has several options for the religious formation and education of our children and youth, as family dynamics and schedules often prefer a variety of   models.   We hope you look over what we now offer; consider being a part of our Religious Formation Ministry; and choose a model that fits your family. More information about each of these programs follows.

Wednesday Night Class Sessions from September to May. Classes for children from K -8 with a new format for Grades 6 -8.

Senior High Faith Formation: Faith Sharing Discussion Groups for young people in Grades 9 -12. These groups will meet monthly with social time included.

Family Centered Catechesis: A monthly program for families that will meet 6 times during the year. It is intergenerational with activities and lessons that can be carried into the home. This can be the sole means of religious formation for a family or can be a supplement for any family involved in other programs.

Home- based Catechesis: We can meet with parents on an individual or group basis and provide curriculum materials and offer suggestions for home based catechesis.

As you continue reading, there is general information about all programs. Look for the upcoming booklet in the mail or at the entrances of the church.
