Antone Guild

Our Lady of Peace Antone Guild is a member of the Minneapolis Antone Guild.   The Minneapolis Antone Guild is an auxiliary of Our Lady of Good Counsel Cancer Home.

In 1896 Rose Hawthorne Lathrop, daughter of Nathaniel Hawthorne, founded a home for poor destitute persons suffering from cancer. In 1899 she was received into the Third Order of St. Dominic and has since founded seven homes in six states. On December 7, 1941, (Pearl Harbor Day), Our Lady of Good Counsel Cancer Home was founded at 2076 St. Anthony Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Our Lady of Good Counsel Cancer Home accepts no money from its patients or their families and relies solely on the generosity of its friends and volunteers to support its ministries.

In 1941, Archbishop John G. Murray, called upon the Archdiocese Council of Catholic Women to help support the Cancer Home. From this calling the Antone Guild was founded. Our Lady of Peace Antone Guild is one of 17 guilds still operating in parishes in the Archdiocese.

As an auxiliary of the Cancer Home, the group meets monthly to pray, sew bed pads and socialize. In addition, our group raises funds for the Cancer Home by holding raffles, selling nuts and sponsoring parish wide paper goods and toiletries drives.

New members are always welcome.

For more information about the Antone Guild, contact our Deacon, Paul Tatone by email or at 612.824.3455, ext. 513.
