Our Lady of Peace Stack Up the Books
Summer Reading Program!!!
We are offering a summer reading program for incoming 1st through 8th grade students. It only takes a minute to sign up!
All books must be read between June 5th and August 21st. That gives you 11 weeks to read!!! Once you are signed up start reading!! When you have finished a book come back to this page submit your book review! Decide if you "liked the book", "couldn't stand the book", "this book was okay" then write why. Don't forget to include how many pages. Not a lot of writing after all this is about READING. During the summer check out the page to see what OLP students are reading and what they have to say about the books they've read.
- Incoming 1st to 2nd graders are encouraged to read 4-8 books at their appropriate levels. These books may be read to the student as well. When they write their book review they need to list ONE to TWO reasons why they "liked the book", "couldn't stand the book", or "this book was okay" & the number of pages.
- Incoming 3rd to 4th graders are encouraged to read 5-8 books at their appropriate level. When they write their book review they need to list TWO to THREE reasons why they "liked the book", "couldn't stand the book", or "this book was okay" & the number of pages.
- Incoming 5th to 8th graders are encouraged to read 4-8 books at their appropriate level. When they write their book review they need to list THREE to FOUR reasons why they "liked the book", "couldn't stand the book", or "this book was okay" & the number of pages.
Students who participate will be recognized when we come back to school in the fall. There will be prizes for the most books read at each grade level!! Remember, for every book your read you must write a book review! Studies prove that reading over the summer helps students retain their reading skills for the upcoming school year.
